I can't cook: Tacos

It was a Tuesday, so naturally, I thought it might be a good time to try making tacos. This is how I attempted to make beef tacos.

First, I minced one clove of garlic and heated it in olive oil at medium heat. If you have half a yellow onion, chop it up and throw it in there as well.

After maybe 2 minutes of simmering, I added a package of 80/20 (lean/fat) ground beef. I smashed it up and distributed it evenly. I let it continue to simmer until it was a pinkish brown.

In the meantime, I chopped up some romaine lettuce. Tacos typically come with limes as a garnish, but since I don't have limes, I grabbed a lemon from the tree in my backyard.

When the beef was pinkish brown, I added in about half a cup of taco seasoning into the pan. You can get this at any grocery store. I used Ortega Taco Seasoning Mix. It's easier than trying to figure out what seasoning would make ground beef taste like carne asada.

I cooked this for another 2-3 minutes before removing the pan from heat.

Now it's time to prep the tortillas. First, I started heating a larger non-stick pan at low heat. I threw in some small flour tortillas and let them heat for about 2 minutes on each side.

Finally, it's time to assemble the tacos. Put a portion of your taco beef into the tortilla. Top it with shredded lettuce, lime (or lemon) juice, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and hot sauce.

And there you go! Tacos! Obviously, these are nowhere close to authentic, but they're so easy to prepare. So if you're a taco newbie like me and want to make your own tacos, why not give this recipe a try?
